Hearts for Art- Connection Through Mosaic
Turning broken pieces into something meaningful
I co-lead mosaic art workshops at local churches for children from low-income families and children who need time to learn. Children choose their own designs, colors, and mosaic pieces, and we help them put their ideas together at their own pace.
Helping children learn with confidence
Since ninth grade, I have provided one-on-one English tutoring at a local church for children from low-income and immigrant families. The experience made me more aware that access to extra English learning support is not equally available to every child.
At a summer camp in Changhua, I co-led a class of 12 children with a teacher. I taught English and art using materials we created for the class, and played games with the children.
English & Learning Support
Supporting patients through practical help and attentive care
I volunteered at the information desk and in the emergency, pharmacy, and physical therapy departments. I guided patients, helped sort and package medications, and prepared physical therapy supplies. Talking with patients taught me to listen carefully and consider how they might be feeling, even when I was helping with a simple task.
Hospital Volunteering
Creating art that gives back
I sell handmade mosaic artworks online to support children's welfare organizations. I also participated in an outdoor charity sale. In 2026, donating all US$1,850 in proceeds to Eden Social Welfare Foundation to support individuals with disabilities and their families.

Mosaic for Good at Eden Social Welfare Foundation's Charity Event
Art for a More Inclusive Community
Mosaic for Good is a fundraising project created by me, Angela Lin through Mind in Context.
In 2026, I organized a mosaic charity booth at an Eden Foundation community event in Tainan. I independently created 152 handmade mosaic artworks for the fundraiser, designed and arranged the booth display, and shared the meaning behind each piece with visitors.
The fundraiser raised US$1,850. All proceeds were donated to support Eden Foundation's community services for individuals with disabilities and their families.
This experience allowed me to turn something I had previously used in small workshops into a broader form of community engagement- using art not only to create and connect, but also to give back.

Why Mosaic?
A mosaic begins with pieces that may seem incomplete on their own. By arranging them together, they become part of something larger.
That process has shaped how I think about community work. People do not need to have identical experiences to connect with one another. Through creating, teaching, and sharing, individual pieces can become part of a larger story.
Reflection
Community service has taught me that psychology is not only something we study- it is something we can apply through everyday interactions.
